9 time management tips to improve your health




Do you know that lack of time management negatively affects your health? Everyone is busy and YOU are no different. The great equalizer is that everyone is given 24 hours in a day. How do you maximize what you are able to accomplish in a day?


Here are tips to help you Reclaim your time AND get back your life!


1. Make a list – Sit down on a Friday night or Saturday and plan ALL the meals you will need for the next week. Include Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and snacks. Talk with other members of your family and get input on what they would like to eat. Also, inform the family that you will be placing a WEEKLY food order so they have 24 hours to give you their food requests.

After you determine what meals you will prepare, make a list of the items you need from the store. If you shop at multiple stores then make a list for each. This will make your shopping experience easier.


2. Order groceries online – This is a fairly new phenomenon but a great way to reclaim your time. Quite a few stores are jumping on the bandwagon. Some stores will allow you to order your groceries online and you pick them up. They bring the groceries right out to the car (Examples – Walmart, Harris Teeter, Food Lion). While other stores will allow you to order groceries online and they will deliver to your door (Walmart, Instacart). How long does it take you to grocery shop? For the average person, it is anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Enter the list you created during tip #1 online then schedule pick up of your groceries at the time of your choice. You eliminate the time it takes you to walk around the grocery store. It also limits impulsive buying because you are not right in front of items that entice you. Order your groceries online and RECLAIM YOUR TIME!


3. Prepare food in advance. After you use Tip #1 and Tip #2 start preparing your food for the week. Sunday afternoon is a great day for this. You may need to look up some food preparation recipes. Download → bit.ly/myfreeguide2019 for a vegetarian and dairy free recipe guide that may be useful. Be sure you include some grab and go fruit such as bananas, and apples on your list. You can take time during your prep to wash, slice or peel fruit. Go ahead and put the fruit in zip lock bags with the appropriate portion size. Boiled eggs are a good grab and go breakfast. Nuts are great snacks. It is best to buy larger bags and then separate into smaller snack zip lock bags. For your meals, make sure you get some containers that will accommodate your main dish (usually protein) with 1 or 2 sides. You can also make your salads in advance. Package the dressing in a separate container on the side. Meal preparation is essential to reclaiming your time. You can grab and go in the mornings.
